Tips to Creating Peaceful & Productive Workspace

PRODUCTIVITY ORGANIZATION TIPS & TRICKS

Hello and happy Tip Tuesday! With the ever-growing frequency of working from home, I wanted to share the tricks I used to give myself a space that would motivate me to get my work done while still being a calming, joyful,  and beautiful space. Maybe your home office is a full room with a desk, bookshelves, cabinets, and art on the walls. Maybe it's just a desk in the corner of a room (like mine is in my small NYC apartment). Here’s how I got creative and gave myself a workspace that was organized and functional but also aesthetically pleasing and a space I enjoy spending my time in!

6 Tips to Creating a Better Workspace

1. Drawer Organizers

Drawer organizers are an easy way to organize items. They help divide my pens, pencils, paper clips, and other office supplies so I can find things quickly and easily! You can also use various sized boxes you have laying around the house for this one if you don’t want to purchase additional storage items.

2. Desktop Organizer

This one is functional and decorative for me! I chose an item that looked nice on my desk but also that held my most-used items. No drawer opening required to grab my favorite pen or Apple pencil. It’s all there ready to be used, but not in a messy way! I got this one on Amazon.

3. Rose Gold EVERYTHING

Rose gold brings me joy so I chose it for my lamp and desk organizer. And my computer. And my iPad. And my watch… And… well, I’ll stop there. I love rose gold but it can be any color, texture, style, etc. Choosing something that brightens your mood is the way to go!

4. Wall Decor

Even if you don’t have tons of wall space, find a small corner to put something on your wall. I chose a map of the world to fill out the wall above my desk and a canvas of a motivational quote. The map reminds me of how much I love to travel (and motivates my “work from anywhere” spirit) and the quote pushes me to keep reaching for my goals! I kept it simple with just two items, so my space didn’t get too busy. I’m a bit of a minimalist so two pieces were plenty for my space.

5. Lighting

My overhead lighting is not very good so it didn’t take me very long to realize I needed some additional lights to get work done without straining my eyes. I got a desk lamp (obviously in rose gold) that gives off plenty of light since I also don’t get tons of natural light in my workspace. I also put lights around my map since I didn’t want to invest in a frame at the moment. It adds an element of decor but also brings another source of light (and joy!). I also got this one from Amazon!

6. Candles

I never used to be a candle person but I am a very happy convert. I love the little bit of light and ambiance they bring to a room. They add more decor to a space and you get to swap them out for different ones once they burn out! I also am a sucker for a seasonal scent...the ones I have right now are Evergreen and Winter Cabin.

My little “office” became a more welcoming, pleasant place after I made these changes and upgrades. The little bit of decoration, as well as functional organizational pieces and lights, helped make my desk corner the clean, bright, and aesthetically pleasing space I wanted! I love sitting down at my desk to do work and being surrounded by items I love.
